The Challenge
A medium-sized consulting firm wanted to help a team of consultants better understand their strengths, development opportunities, and how their work aligned with what naturally motivates them. Like many organizations, managers had instincts about their people but lacked a consistent way to validate those observations or help employees articulate their value and growth potential.
The Solution
The firm piloted the tru platform with a manager and two consultants.
Participants completed the tru process to uncover their Achievement DNA™ and identify the assignments and work environments that naturally energize their best performance. The team then used those insights in development conversations and manager coaching discussions.
What Happened
The most immediate outcome was increased self-awareness and confidence. Several team members discovered leadership patterns in their results that they had not previously recognized in themselves.
As the manager observed:
“One of the biggest things I took away from it was how little my team thinks of themselves as leaders and identifies that way.”
The data gave employees objective evidence of strengths they already possessed but had difficulty articulating.
“It was really nice to just have the data to be like, no, it’s here. You have it all. Let’s just start using that language.”
The manager also gained clearer insight into how to develop and deploy talent more effectively.
One employee’s results revealed a need for greater ownership, strategy, and decision-making responsibility—helping explain why she appeared disengaged in her current work.
Another employee’s results confirmed she was already operating in an environment that aligned well with her natural strengths and preferences.
Rather than treating everyone the same, the manager was able to personalize development based on what each individual needed to thrive.
The Impact
The pilot demonstrated how tru helps both employees and managers make better decisions about growth and work alignment.
Employees gained:
· Greater confidence in their strengths
· A clearer understanding of how they create value
· Language to advocate for themselves professionally
Managers gained:
· Validation of existing observations
· Greater confidence in development decisions
· Clearer insight into where to invest in coaching and growth opportunities
As the manager summarized:
“I have the language now to talk about my patterns and if something doesn’t feel in alignment, I understand how to say that in a professional setting.”
Why It Matters
When people understand what drives their best work, they become more confident, more engaged, and better equipped to contribute at their highest level.
When managers understand what their people need to thrive, they can deploy talent more effectively and create more meaningful development opportunities.
That’s the power of work alignment.
